Pipe Relining Northern Rivers

Most people are aware of the traditional dig up method in order to fix problem pipes. A lot of people are uninformed that their local plumbing company is able to offer a permanent and non-invasive solution. Using the latest in drain pipe relining technology, we are able to customize a patch to suit a particular troublesome area of pipe or reline a whole straight run of pipe up to 70m.

Pipe relining is all done underground, inside the old pipe so it’s a minimal disruption alternative to excavation or dig up works. Because it can be completed in a day, savings can be made on labour costs and all the headaches associated with digging a pipe up. Relining is particularly suitable when the pipe is under a concrete driveway or landscaping.

The pipe relining process

In order to provide you with a quote, your plumber will need to use a CCTV drain camera and a high pressure water jetter to clean the pipe and assess the damage. Once they have the video footage required, the can write up a report and give you an accurate price. Once the quote is accepted the plumber will start preparing your custom patch. They are then able to come to site and complete the relining process in the following steps:

  1. The pre-sized fabric liner is soaked with resin
  2. A rubber bladder is inserted inside the fabric sleeve
  3. The patch is then pushed or pulled into place with the assistance of a CCTV drain camera and rods
  4. The bladder is inflated using an air compressor and left inside the pipe to cure. The curing process takes anywhere between 3 and 6 hours
  5. The fabric sleeve is removed and pipes can be used straight afterwards

The advantages of pipe relining

  • Minimal fuss – deal with your specialised plumber as your only point of contact from start to finish. You may need to liaise with an excavator driver, carpenter, tiler, concreter etc depending on where the problem pipe is located with the dig up method
  • It only takes about a day to complete, as opposed to roughly a week for dig up jobs
  • It can all be done underground, saving you money digging up your driveway, flooring or landscaping
  • Both clay / earthenware and PVC pipes are able to be relined
  • Tree roots are no longer able to penetrate a section of pipe that has been relined as there are no longer loose joints or cracks for them to seek out nutrients
  • Junctions / bends are able to be relined as well as straight runs of pipe

Specialised plumbers are able to reline pipes which are straight as well as pipes with junctions or T-sections.
